Salt is no longer reserved for seasoning your bland meals. Now it’s a treat for your eyes, nose and well-being, too.

People around the world use salt caves and mines for their health benefits. Some believe the salt filters out pollution in the air by being anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, according to The New York Times. There are also claims that the salt’s negative ions balance out the body. The alternative therapy is thought to help asthma, allergies, and other sinus or breathing issues.

As a result of these therapeutic benefits, commercial salt rooms with salt imported from Eastern Europe or Himalayan pink salt (which is packed with minerals) have become popular — and they’re not easy to build, since salt can’t be glued and resins would disrupt the naturalness. Guests are encouraged to meditate and relax in the salty air.

While some scientists are skeptical of the salt caves’ actual effectiveness on the mind and body, it’s undeniable that salt caves look amazing.

Below, check out some natural and manmade salt caves where you definitely wouldn’t mind spending an hour or two.
